About Us

Sahand Serajian is a PhD student of Chemical Engineering at UNL, focusing on batteries. As president of the UNL-ECS student chapter, "I am committed to fostering a collaborative environment for fellow students, advancing knowledge in electrochemistry, and raising awareness about its potential in the Nebraska community."

As an electrochemist, Oghenetega's work focuses on the characterization of electrochemical reactions at the electrode surfaces of proton exchange membrane fuel cells. Using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), he investigates the complex processes occurring at the interface of electrodes and ionomers, aiming to understand and optimize the mechanisms of proton conduction and gas transport. "My vision for the UNL-ECS student chapter is to establish a dynamic and inclusive community that promotes collaboration, innovation, and professional growth among both electrochemists, students, and scientists." 

Before joining the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) as a PhD student in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Sarang worked as a Process Engineer in the Petroleum Sector, gaining extensive experience in budgeting, managing, and executing business plans. His current research focuses on synthesizing and characterizing Supported Ionic Liquid Membranes for CO₂ absorption using an AI-aided approach and synthesizing 2D porous materials like COFs/MOFs for carbon capture. His technical expertise and seven years of industry experience make him well-suited for the treasurer position at the Electrochemical Society-UNL.

Micah Quirie is a Chemical Engineering Undergraduate student at UNL. "As the only undergraduate member on the executive board, my goal is to be the bridge between graduate and undergraduate students to foster the growth of UNL's ECS Student Chapter."

“Ahmad Khan is a second-year PhD student in the Chemistry Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), where he focuses on developing 2D materials-based electronic devices. He completed his master’s at LUMS in Pakistan. In his free time, Ahmad enjoys biking, blending his passion for the outdoors with his scientific curiosity.”
